Yesterday was the first snow in Kanazawa. I was happy to see these massive snowflakes falling when I opened my sliding door to investigate some strange sounds coming from outside. This is what I saw:

Are those buddhist monks there for the snow or is that just a coincidence?
Buddhist, I think, but they may be Shinto too — not sure. I think they are there for some kinda blessing ritual, tho. They go from door to door to offer prayers for people. People drop a coin into the plates they have and they get a blessing.
Probably it's meant to coincide with the snow; Japanese people find changing seasons auspicious.
